Kinema of Dreams

Kinema of Dreams is a Majestic Cinema takeover for all the family during Halloween 2024 half-term featuring an installation, animation and projection.

Travel through King’s Lynn’s past where local legends come alive – from Black Shuck and the wild dogs of the Fens to witches and their trusty familiars – and discover which classic film was the first to play at the iconic Majestic Cinema. This immersive spectacle unearths a local cinematic past and present, bringing old film technology to life with exciting new projection methods.

With projection, animation and creative writing by Edalia Day (National Theatre, Theatre Royal Norwich, Sundance Film Festival) and installation design by Lucy Marsden (Fish Fabrications, Laurence Edwards Studio, NUA), this work was cocreated by FUSE, Collusion’s collective of local young creatives (16-30). This twenty-strong crew have shaped the project through regular workshops from conception to exhibition, contributing stories, poetry, music, animation, projection and design.

This event is part of Collusion’s ART // TECH // PLAY programme and network that supports artists and creatives to develop their skills around creative technologies in a practice-led way.

Supported by Anglia Ruskin University, Norwich University of the Arts, Cambridge Junction, DanceEast, Norwich Theatre, Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, and Arts Council England.
